My dearest Heidi - -

xxxxEight years or more have passed since we put you into that peaceful sleep. At the time it seemed
unbearable, and the decision was agonizing, even though we knew we could have held you here for some time but we didn't want you to begin to suffer in any way.
xxxxxxxxWISDOM IS OF THE HEART
xxxxxYou looked so beautiful, your eyes so bright, and although terminally ill, you were still your loveable self. We were so fortunate to have a compassionate staff and caring veterinarian, Dr. Blake, who said to me,
"She is not yours you know, God only let you borrow
her." How right his wisdom was. And, so it is for all the
other loving pets who have gone on before her.
xxxxxThey too, are still going about their business
in their special place in the Universe and are still
careing and loving us.
xxxxxxETERNALLY RE-CREATING
xxxxxI have learned so much from you my "Wonder
Dog," and I know nothing ever really dies. It is only
life ever-changing, re-creating and transforming into
a new creation, more beautiful, more expressive, more
happy and more free than ever before. You are en-
compassed in that creation Heidi, and in your own
unique way, you are still caring for me, but in new
dimensions.
xxxxDuring your 12-year life span we have have looked out for each other, twelve joyous years (a long life-time I am
told for a big beautiful St. Bernard Collie such as you).
I'm not sad anymore because I feel your presence
around me, my precious one.
A TIME TO GUARD -- AND A TIME TO PLAY
xxxxxYou taught me so very much, my precious Heidi.
For one thing, you taught me what true loyalty was, how deeply to care for another loved one and what it means to express joy and happiness, patience and even suffering and endurance. you showed me how a true friend should be, how to remain faithful, no matter what the obstacles, and, you even showed me how to have fun, to laugh and how to play. I never realized how much I loved your throwing your rubber hamburger on my lap
while I rested on the bed -- You always waited for
your time to play.

xxxxxAlthough you never spoke a word, and you neverXXXXXneeded XXXXXXXXXXXto, your soulful eyes and your beautiful regal body movements told me more than any words could. How I loved those nips on my behind whenever
we decided to do something special and exciting such
as getting out a brand new bone or even finding your
special chew toy.
XxxTHE ST. BERNARD-COLLIE HIKER
xxxxxBut, to you, the best of all was when I put on
your special-made back-pack and took you up those
wonderful San Bernardino mountains trails at Big
Bear Lake. We would sleep back to back in our trail
dome tent that you guarded with your life. If we,
humans, never needed to use 'words' and could be
all these things you were, I guess we would all
become 'Wonder Beings.'
XXXON THAT SPECIAL JOURNEY
xxxxxYes, my Wonder Dog, you are constantly in my
thoughts. You and all our other 'Wonder Pets' who
have taken that special journey. Isn't it wonderful to
know that all of you 'Wonder Pets' are moving and
advancing into better lives. I am peaceful to know
your 'wonder being' is around me, and even more
radiant than ever!
XXTODAY, TOMORROW, FOREVER
xxxxxWe know there is no death, as we understand it:
there is only life taking on a higher form of being.
Today, I can happily call you my 'Super Wonder Dog'
and that includes all your brothers and sisters who
greeted you upon arrival as well as all the other 'Super
Wonder Pets' around you.
xxxxxI love you, my dear Heidi, you are forever in
my thoughts -- Today and Always.
xxxxxYour friend and companion in all times to come.
Goodbye again, my dear dear Heidi and be
